The Village of Sugar Mountain North Carolina has been a favorite Southeastern
Ski destination since 1969. Sugar Mountain NC has a peak elevation of 5300 feet and
boasts the only 1200 foot vertical drop in the region. With an annual snowfall near 80
inches and state-of-the-art snow making equipment, Sugar Mountain offers
a delightful white playground for winter sports. In the spring
and summer months Sugar Mountain NC is the place to beat the heat
and enjoy some of the beautiful scenery with golf and tennis or a bike
ride or lift tour of the mountain
trails.

Weekend Scenic Lift Rides
every Saturday and Sunday 10am until
5:30pm. Bring the whole family, a picnic
lunch, your mountain bike, or just a
friend and enjoy a breathtaking 45min
roundtrip lift-ride to Sugar Mountain's
5,300 foot peak. The majestic scenery is
breathtaking. Additional weekday lift
ride dates may be offered over 4th of
July and Labor Day holidays.

Sugar Mountain
Biking and Hiking Trails -
Open daily May - October 16
Miles of hiking and biking trails
intertwine throughout the Village of
Sugar Mountain and are accessible from
many points throughout the Village and
Sugar Mountain Resort. Daily trail
access is free of charge through October
16th from dawn until dusk. Trail maps
are available
in a black, marked mailbox
located at the base of Sugar Mountain's
Flying Mile slope. While riding a bike within
the Village limits helmets are required.
Sugar
Mountain Resort
is located in Avery County, North Carolina with 115 acres of ski and
snowboard terrain and the most vertical feet in North Carolina at
1,200 ft. Other activities include snow tubing, snowshoeing, ice
skating.
Grandfather
Mountain
is the highest mountain in the Blue
Ridge Mountain range at an elevation of
5,964 feet. The Mountain is now operated
as a scenic travel attraction and a
world-class nature preserve. The Mile
High Swinging Bridge was built to give
visitors easy access to the
breath-taking view from Grandfather
Mountain's Linville Peak.
