Mars Hill North Carolina is 18 miles north of Asheville and home to the popular Wolf Ridge Ski Resort offering winter NC skiing and a host of year-around community amenities.
It is also the location of  Mars Hill College, an affordable mountain college with an open-door policy for all NC residents desiring a sound education. Mars Hill NC provides a "small town" atmosphere with Asheville  attractions, restaurants and events only a short drive away. 
Mars Hill College  was established in 1856 and continues today as a Liberal Arts college connected with the working world and committed to character development, service and responsible citizenship in the community, the region and the world. The colleges serves approximately 1300 students.

            The Folk Art Center
The Folk Art Center is a popular Asheville Attraction Home base  for the Southern Highland Craft Guild, the Center is the hub of traditional and contemporary mountain art and crafts. With changing exhibits in both the focus gallery and the main gallery as well as the permanent exhibit, all styles are displayed. Demonstrations and educational opportunities are scheduled regularly.        The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway travels through Asheville At 469 miles long the Parkway is the nation's longest scenic rural parkway. Now 70 years old it is administered  by the National Park Service and host to  approximately 20 million visits annually. It connects the Shenandoah Valley National Park with the Great Smokey Mountains National park in North Carolina and Tennessee. Asheville's Smith-McDowell House History Museum Located on the campus of A-B Tech, the former residence of mayors and Vanderbuilt friends is now a restored history museum.            The YMI Cultural Center 
YMI Cultural Center offers Black history and current events is an Asheville landmark in the heart of downtown convenient to City Hall, Pack Square, Pack Place and art galleries and other cultural centers. Listed on the National  Register of Historic Places, the YMI has served Asheville's minority citizens since it was first established in 1893 as the Young Men's Institute. It houses numerous exhibits, many dealing with the history of African Americans in Western North Carolina, and sponsors such cultural events as Asheville's Goombay! Festival, an Annual Kwanzaa Celebration and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration. Madison County Court House,  constructed in 1907, is a two-story Neo-Classical Revival brick structure in the heart of downtown Marshall. The cupola, a four-stage polygonal structure, is one of the most impressive courthouse cupolas in North Carolina. The donical roof, bearing clocks on its alternate faces, is capped by a lantern which serves as a pedestal for a statue of Blind Justice.
