Weaverville NC: |
|
Like Asheville, Weaverville in the 1800s was home to grand hotels, such as the Dula Springs Hotel and Blackberry Lodge, where Low Country visitors could escape the heat and pestilence of Southern summers. |

Lake Louise Park is the Town of
Weaverville's primary recreation facility
maintained by the Recreation department.
Originally named Lake Juanita, the area was
bought by the city way back in 1936. The
area was extensively renovated and improved
in 1987 to become a wonderful gathering
place for folks of all ages. You'll find
plenty of parking for the area's picnic
tables and shelters, grills, playground
equipment, a fitness area and a 0.61 mile
walking trail. |

Weaverville NC and the Reems Creek Valley have been a beacon
to yearning souls since pioneers began settling in what was still
Cherokee territory in the 1700s. The natural beauty of Weaverville,
and its proximity to downtown Asheville (only 10 miles to the
north) have made Weaverville NC the perfect blend of small town and
big city. Although Weaverville is a separate city, many consider it
to be in reality, "North Asheville". |

Weaverville Galleries, Crafts |
Miya
Gallery Specializing in contemporary
jewelry, Miya Gallery features a variety of fine art and craft -
what we like to refer to as "future heirlooms": ceramic,
fiber, hand blown glass, turned wood, wrought iron, two
dimensional paintings, original prints and photography, and mixed
media, as well as cards, gifts and humor. |
Magnuum Pottery Since 1989, Rob and Beth Moring Mangum have been partners in studio
pottery. In 1998 they moved to Weaverville, North Carolina, near Asheville. They have a
storefront gallery as well as a production studio in the same space. |
Copeland Design Studio - Darrell Copeland became interested in
woodturning when he arrived in Western North
Carolina. Today, he is a wood sculptor creating
three-dimensional works of art inspired by the
minimal line and texture. Copeland is a member
of the Southern Highland Crafts Guild. |
Marina
Bosetta
Bosetti Art Tile designs and creates ceramic
tile for home and gardens. Specializing in an
ancient technique known as “cuerda seca”
(meaning dry cord), I lay out the design with a
wax resist and shallow pools of glaze are
contained within the waxed lines. |
Suzanna Biro/b> My work emerges as I allow my
visual fantasies to come alive. I
seek to honor all things in this world around me
and to become a part of it all. The stories seem
to tell themselves with many archetypical and
ancient images. |
Ann Vasilik
"Control of spontaneity is one of the
contradictions of watercolor for me. The
transparency of the washes bringing solid
objects to life is the other. Each painting
strives to have something distinctive to say
about my personal vision. |
Art
